Dream Dress

MW1MW2DSC_0233Hey All, Here is my last look I wanted to show you from Portugal. This has to be one of my favourite dresses. I found it at Harvey Nichols at Mall of the Emirates in Dubai where Matthew Williamson’s best pieces are sold in Dubai. I love this dress because it fits just perfect and this is often hard to find when your petite. I didn’t have to take it to the tailor or make any adjustments.

Before on the blog I have talked about my love of Matthew Williamson’s designs and its because each season his pieces always could fit into my travel plans for the year with his typically Eastern influences on his Western dresses, perfect for the UAE. From when I saw this dress on the catwalk, I had been dreaming about it. To add a little simplicity to the dress I get the jewellery minimal with just my evil eye bracelet (colours match perfectly) and some simple white shoes. I have been loving the white shoe trend this season and I think they definitely made my tan look much stronger!

What I wore: Dress: Matthew Williamson, Shoes: Zara and Bracelet: By Sophie

What’s your dream dress?

Travel Thursday #8 Seville

RoofHey all, This week we are in Seville, Spain for Travel Thursday. I was there about a month ago now (sorry for late post). I think it is already one of my favourite cities so I will definetly be back. The architecture and scenery all over the city is a architecture fan’s biggest love. Everywhere you look is picture perfect.
Spanish PlazaAlfonosoAlfonso 2

feetBuildingGuitarHotelI was in Seville for less than 48 hours on my way to Portugal. Seville is probably the epitome in Europe of East meets West. You can see the impact of the Moorish influence all over the city. Perfect day is to first walk through the city heading to the Alcazar, (you should pass the Cathedral on your way). When you come out the Alcazar walk in the narrow alleyways and then you should come to Jardins de Murillo, sit, observe and take in the beautiful surroundings.

Once you have recovered from your morning’s walking and sightseeing, then head through the gardens to the Tobacco Factory and onto the Hotel Alfonso XIII for lunch.  The Hotel Alfonso XIII is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever been in. I could share 50 photos here but kept it just to two. Imagine though an old Spanish palace with beautiful long corridors, all decorated with tiles and mosaic from the Moorish era and wonderfully fabulous gardens. This is a must-visit if your in Seville to feel like you stepped back to an era past.

After lunch and relaxation then jump on a horse and carriage outside the hotel and take a tour of Parque de Maria Luisa, this is where the beautiful building of the Plaza Espana is and I can honestly say, that not only is the Parque beautiful the Plaza Espana is magnificent (again could have showed you at least 50 photos).

After your Carriage ride have them drop you off by the Cathedral and head to the hotel EME Fusion Hotel. Take a quick tour of this beautiful boutique hotel before heading to the roof terrace for drinks and watch the sunset over the city, with fabulous views of the Cathedral. After soaking up the best view of Seville head downstairs for dinner at Santo. This is a beautiful design restaurant with Hans Wegner’s wishbone chairs adorn this sophisticated restaurant.  Its a well executed Mediterranean menu so you won’t be disappointed by the food. Be prepared to eat with the best of Seville and you’ll want to take this restaurant back to your hometown. The atmosphere is understatedly hip and the design beautiful and a great jazz duo playing live music.

Yes I love Seville and can’t wait to go back!

Mood Monday #5 Airport Shopping

DSC_1047-procHey Hey, Its Monday again, as I sit here writing the weather outside is basically raining cats and dogs but, the weather man promises better weather at the end of the week. Anyway, my mood monday is all about airport shopping. For anyone who has had the displeasure of flying with me they know that they have to remind me to be on time to the airport. I am sure that they actually are never 100% sure I will make it to the plane. The unfortunate thing of being a 3rd culture/expat kid is that you think planes are like buses! I have been known to hold planes up with being late, my advice to a friend who was once running late to the airport was to call them have the plane wait …… yeah that didn’t work out too well he was flying Ryan Air!

My tardiness has changed since Origins is now being sold at Amsterdam Schiphol, this means that I can now show up with an hour to go rather than the 45 mins I usually aim for. I love Origins and have always had to stock up when in London or the States (it wasn’t sold in Dubai either).

Before my flight to Copenhagen the other day I managed to grab my two favourite must-have products. Modern Friction has to be the best micro-dermabrasion product on the beauty market that doesn’t require you to go to a salon. My skin is always brighter and clearer after using just once. The Perfect World Serum creates what its called, a ‘perfect world’ for my skin, I use it morning and evening and even with my hyper-sensitive skin it leaves it just that little calmer. If only there was a product like this for life generally!

My must-haves for traveling and general life: Origins, Modern Friction and Perfect World Serum,Juliet Has a Gun, Lady Vengeance the perfect east/west scent, Evian Water spray, my Versace sunglasses.

Have you tried Origins?

Ciao for Now xx

Change of gaurdlovemeDamageHey guys, I think you may have noticed this week on the blog I have gone a bit Danish crazy. I promise this is my last Denmark post until next Fashion Week but, then expect the same. Aside from one of home cities; Amsterdam I must say that Copenhagen has always had a special place in my heart and I could easily live there. I was ranting on the phone when I arrived to a friend about how great everything looks in Copenhagen and that includes but, is not limited too; Architecture, Fashion, People, Parks oh ok, just Everything. So, aside from me checking out the latest fashions coming out of the stylish Scandinavia I always love to catch up with my friends in Copenhagen and try and see as much as the city as I can through a local’s eye.

Above I have included the must-see’s of the city from the beautiful harbour where you can see the wonderful Danish design of the Copenhagen Opera House to the amazing ships that are in the harbour including the Royal Yacht, sadly I didn’t get a picture of this but, I can tell you its a truly beautiful boat. Since HRH joined the Royal Family there has been a reason to keep a close gossip watch on the Danish Royal Family and I am sure my friend Anne-Dorothe can tell you how I went Royal crazy by sprinting across the park to get a video clip of the Change of the Guard band you can see the clip here on my instagram.

When in Copenhagen I always go to my favourite cafe not once but several times and this time was no different, I had dinner there and two breakfasts. I am sure the picture of breakfast above is making your mouth water and your already clicking for a ticket to CPH. If you do make it to the Danish capital then head to the lakes take a walk and then go to Cafe Dag H. You won’t be disappointed because not only is the food awesome but, so is the people watching.

After a hearty breakfast then just walk around the city I suggest heading to the Rosenborg Castle Gardens which have to be some of the most manicured urban gardens I have ever seen, the castle in the gardens holds the Queen’s jewels and is a a spectacular building itself and looks like something from a fairy tale.

Then head to the shopping area and just wonder in-and-out of the shops where you will not only see beautiful clothes but also beautiful furniture, I fell in love with the 1950’s inspired corner in a furniture store of course, made by the wonderful designer Arne Jacobsen. Drop into the small art gallery’s and see something that catches your eye. After all this window shopping or credit card bashing then go to Nyhavn with all the tourists, and if this is your first visit to Copenhagen to the boat tour too (only in good weather).

Aside from everything you can see around town the Danes are super great people with a fabulous sense of humour as you can see from the bill I received at the wonderful Sushi restaurant Umami . If you like Sushi this is a must eat place, great interiors, excellent service and to die-for sushi. Eat up and then go to the Union cocktail bar and then get ready to party the night away in true Danish fun style and trust me there will be Damage!

Have you been to CPH then drop your tips in the comments

Ciao for now xx

Trending Tueday #9 Scandinavia

DSC_0350Hey all, well last week I was in Copenhagen for Fashion Week. The weather was perfect so hoping from the shows and fairs as well as store openings and parties was so pleasurable. This was not my first time at CPH Fashion Week and certainly won’t be my last. I am always so inspired by the crowd and designers in Copenhagen and Scandinavia for me is the epitome of my Western style of less is more. See below for my favourite pieces from the shows from my favourite designers.

B & G 2Baum und Pfegarden 1

The looks above are from Baum und Pferdgarten which is one of my favourite brands, their style has this laid-back chic that is easy to dress up or down which I think is key to the Scandinavian style. I loved the pop of orange amongst the leopard prints in their natural hues and the sequin jazz numbers from their show in the National Gallery.

Ann SofieAnn Sofie Madsen showcased some fantastic pieces that were edgy and yet simple in their design. This show to me was the epitome of understated clothes that would simply make heads turn and have girls wishing they could pull of the looks. I can’t wait to try these pieces next year!

BmBBy Malene Birger one of my favourite brands ….. didn’t disappoint, I think that every summer they have pieces that you simply need for your summer wardrobe. Loose fitting, yet classically tailored clothes are essential for holiday chic. In simple black and white with pop of colour here and there. For me though, I just have to have the gladiator inspired sandals in my wardrobe next season, I am already imagining them teamed with denim shorts and loose fitting t-shirt or with a beautiful, simple shift dress.

Brunns BazaarBrunns Bazaar is a brand that I can just never miss visiting their stores and the show was something else….. I simply can’t wait to add the above to my wardrobe, how much fun will these be. In our European summers that are a little temperamental, opening the wardrobe and seeing these bright, fun and stylish pieces will always put a smile on the face. The show was all about having fun and I think there is no better message for summer.

Stine GoyaThe Stine Goya opening party and SS 14 showcase was a packed event. With the great weather outside it was hard to not want to pick up the perfect Scandinavian styled pieces with metallic printing and trims I must say these were the ideal clothes for my Dubai wardrobe.

I hope this has shown you some of my favourite items from the best of Scandinavia, in my opinion Scandinavia is the home of design and innovation and the fashion week always highlights that the brands are true to the Scandinavian style but, are perfect for today’s global woman, who needs simple pieces that she can mix and match and look under stated and yet edgy. If you need a wardrobe that transcends borders and can be worn all over the globe look no further than Scandinavian designers. Fashion week was great fun in Copenghagen with the weather and I suggest you check out Stockholm Streetstyle for some of the best dressed people at fashion week like these ultra-cool Scandi girls below.
