Trending Tueday #9 Scandinavia

DSC_0350Hey all, well last week I was in Copenhagen for Fashion Week. The weather was perfect so hoping from the shows and fairs as well as store openings and parties was so pleasurable. This was not my first time at CPH Fashion Week and certainly won’t be my last. I am always so inspired by the crowd and designers in Copenhagen and Scandinavia for me is the epitome of my Western style of less is more. See below for my favourite pieces from the shows from my favourite designers.

B & G 2Baum und Pfegarden 1

The looks above are from Baum und Pferdgarten which is one of my favourite brands, their style has this laid-back chic that is easy to dress up or down which I think is key to the Scandinavian style. I loved the pop of orange amongst the leopard prints in their natural hues and the sequin jazz numbers from their show in the National Gallery.

Ann SofieAnn Sofie Madsen showcased some fantastic pieces that were edgy and yet simple in their design. This show to me was the epitome of understated clothes that would simply make heads turn and have girls wishing they could pull of the looks. I can’t wait to try these pieces next year!

BmBBy Malene Birger one of my favourite brands ….. didn’t disappoint, I think that every summer they have pieces that you simply need for your summer wardrobe. Loose fitting, yet classically tailored clothes are essential for holiday chic. In simple black and white with pop of colour here and there. For me though, I just have to have the gladiator inspired sandals in my wardrobe next season, I am already imagining them teamed with denim shorts and loose fitting t-shirt or with a beautiful, simple shift dress.

Brunns BazaarBrunns Bazaar is a brand that I can just never miss visiting their stores and the show was something else….. I simply can’t wait to add the above to my wardrobe, how much fun will these be. In our European summers that are a little temperamental, opening the wardrobe and seeing these bright, fun and stylish pieces will always put a smile on the face. The show was all about having fun and I think there is no better message for summer.

Stine GoyaThe Stine Goya opening party and SS 14 showcase was a packed event. With the great weather outside it was hard to not want to pick up the perfect Scandinavian styled pieces with metallic printing and trims I must say these were the ideal clothes for my Dubai wardrobe.

I hope this has shown you some of my favourite items from the best of Scandinavia, in my opinion Scandinavia is the home of design and innovation and the fashion week always highlights that the brands are true to the Scandinavian style but, are perfect for today’s global woman, who needs simple pieces that she can mix and match and look under stated and yet edgy. If you need a wardrobe that transcends borders and can be worn all over the globe look no further than Scandinavian designers. Fashion week was great fun in Copenghagen with the weather and I suggest you check out Stockholm Streetstyle for some of the best dressed people at fashion week like these ultra-cool Scandi girls below.

Trending Tuesday #7 Baby George

ImageDSC_0743Britain Royal Baby

Baby George is now 1 week old and ironically yesterday would have been Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s 32nd Wedding Anniversary. Well aside, from Baby George being a King in waiting I had to make a post to discuss the outfit Kate choose to wear. I could hear the world all aaaaaahhhhhh’ing at the first sighting of HRH Prince George but, it was the way new Mum Kate stepped out into a sea of flashing photographers in a gorgeous blue Polka Dot dress looking calm, cool and collected i.e fabulous that caught my eye! I had only been discussing moments earlier that events like this for the Royal Family are so pre-rehersed for safety reasons, suddenly I spotted that Princess Diana had also worn Polka Dots when she left the hospital with Prince William how every surprising. Well, I think they both looked great and I have recently been thinking how feminine and lady like Polka Dots look, if they are good enough for Princesses they are definitely good enough for us commoner’s.

Did you like Kate’s dress?

You are all probably trying to understand what this pictures is all about ….. well all over the world Muslims will begin to fast tomorrow for Ramadan. Its a time to reflect, connect with your spiritual side and take time to get back to essentials in life. It also means that Freej is back on our TV screens.

Freej is based on the four grandmothers above, who made their way on to the small screen in 2006. For those of you that don’t know, Freej is about the grandmothers who live in a neighbourhood of Dubai and have to deal with all the changes that are going on around them as Dubai grows as a city. The creation of Mohammed Saeed Harib  the show has been a success with all the family and not just children and was the first animated show in Middle East. I will bring you a “Meet Mohammed” post this weekend so you can hear all about the inspiration behind the show and the what the future holds for our favourite grandmothers.

Since the grandmothers appeared to TV you can now see them trying to take care of everyone appearing in safety video’s ….. so here is a little clip of the safety video to give you a small insight into the show ….. Enjoy!

Trending Tuesday #5 Chanel

Chanel FavouritesChanel FavouriteFROW at ChanelHere is another post of my favourite looks from Couture week and this time its Chanel including the FROW. Karl Lagerfeld is the master of fashion shows, they are always extravagant and of course the clothes; exquisite! Check the pictures above to see my favourite looks. I love big belts, always have, and now Karl has introduced a variation to belts in the waist and dropped them sitting on the hip. So, as you can see above Karl Lagerfeld is bringing the belts back to give women a strong accessory to the outfits and if the belts aren’t enough why don’t you turn the collar up as well and make your presence known and felt.

My absolute favourite design was the middle picture above …. I just love the sleeves and colour. Stamped onto my wishlist.

As for the FROW I always loving Alexa Chung’s lace Chanel and I must confess I am not her biggest fan. But, my favourite look was from Rihanna which again I am definitely not a fan of as I think she can be rather vulgar but I just loved the draping of her white long cardigan and the beautiful Chanel pearls, it was edgy a la Rihanna but, with an add of sophistication from the pearls.

What do you think of Alexa and Rihanna?

Trending Tuesday #5 Christian Dior

Christian DiorHey guys, Hope your all good and been enjoying the recent good weather in Europe. I am heading back to Amsterdam tomorrow from London and can’t wait.

I am not sure if you agree with me but, it seems designers don’t have any chance of holiday time with all the back to back collections. There is the Ready-to-Wear, Resort, Couture and all this has to be designed, produced and showcased. For Trending Tuesday this week, I am showing you a few of the designs that have caught my eye from the Couture shows in Paris from this week.

I am loving the diversity of grey at the moment, you can make it pop with colour or keep it neutral with nude or black tones. Therefore, the designs above caught my eye and made a place on my wish list.

This evening I’ll bring you my looks from Chanel.

Travel Thursday #5 Stockholm

IMG_0124 Hey guys,  you may remember at the   beginning of the history of this blog I interviewed Karime on a few of her travel tips and tricks. Well in today’s Travel Thursday post she shares her trip to Stockholm with us.

It wasn’t Karime’s first time to Stockholm and certainly not her last! In fact this was her 3rd time to the Swedish city and all those trips have been in either Autumn or Spring, Karime says “I must do summer soon as I would like to see the islands, I think every season brings out something different about the city and every time is beautiful” Are you sold yet …..? If not read on! The one thing that Karime always appreciates in Stockholm is the Scandinavian and Swedish fashion and style. Below she share her Must-see’s, what to eat and where to shop:

Must See’s: Of course with the seasons in Scandinavia the light is so different but Karime has tips for all times of the year with her must see list: Firstly, enjoy the beautiful scenery in and around Stockholm by just strolling around. Take a boat trip to one of the Islands, then you can enjoy the view to the lake side houses and nature, step-off the boat to enjoy a drink, sit back and relax. In the city walk around Djurgården Karime says “This part of the city is gorgeous, you can also see some Swedish Architecture with beautiful Villa’s around the lake”.

Eating: Karime suggest starting your day with some breakfast at Bakverket at Bondegaten 59 but get there before 10 otherwise the place is full with Stockholm’s hipsters. Try High Tea in Stockholm at Svenkst Tenn which is located in Osterhalm, Stockholm’s posh side! While your waiting for your table take a look around the beautiful shop for some Swedish design items. For dinner head to AG a French/Swedish restaurant with tasty steak and Karime says ” try the Swedish roe to start as its delicious. For a low-key but still delicious dinner Karime found some tasty home food in La Neta Mexican restaurant.

What Karime discovered on this trip was the fantastic store at Svenkst Tenn, she said ” It was like step into a page of Architectural Digest and seeing all my favourite furniture pieces, I wanted everything. Swedish bold prints and delicate pieces of furniture, stylish but chic”. For me I think that sentence sums up Swedish style and also is why I love Scandinavian style.
