Everything is Black and White

bwThe weather is for sure getting grey and so, I am loving that the fall/winter collections are not all dark colours. Whilst White is still a neutral colour I some how feel it has that bit of something that adds an usual break from the normal dark fall wardrobes. I have put together some of our favourite white and black items in my wardrobe both old and new. Every season I like to add additions to my wardrobe and I am not a trend type person when I m shopping. I look at the fabrics, quality and for items I believe will be with me for a while so I can mix and match everything. I also like to mix up my brands and try to add my slightly more expensive pieces with my bargain finds.

From Left to Right: White, lace Jumper: Sandro, Black Lace skirt: Forever 21, Leggings: Trunk V, White Sequin Top: Topshop, Black faux leather skirt: ASOS, Faux Fur Jacket HM Paris Collection.

Boots: Ankle Boots: ACNE, Over the Knee: HM Paris Collection

Can’t wait to show you how I style all of these items in the coming months.

What kind of things have you been buying for the coming season? I ll show you mine if you show me yours ūüėČ

DSC_0191DSC_0192DSC_0886DSC_0189Hi All, this is the first style post in a while as I have been traveling its been hard to keep up with all my posts for the blog but, I promise I still have posts from California, London, Dubai and now Spain as well. I have recently become quite obsessed with blush and nude tones. I think it looks so clean and is easy to mix and match. With all the Pre-fall collections carrying in-between pieces there is plenty nude options for your wardrobe.

In this look I share my favourite way to mix nude with pastels and of course my favourite accessory colours of Black and Gold for a feminine outfit perfect for light, late nights!

Home Away from Home

A Home away from Home is the definition of a perfect hotel, one where you feel comfortable and want to come back to again and again. Well, in Amsterdam I have found that little gem.! On my last trip I had to put all my stuff in storage and wait for a new perfect place to come up in Amsterdam so meanwhile for my birthday I checked in at the Canal House. Located in the heart of Amsterdam on the Keizergracht, this is an excellent place to stay to be able to enjoy all the best Amsterdam has to offer on your doorstep.

Behind the perfect Amsterdam Canal House exterior lies a serene and beautiful hotel. This was the second time staying here as I have previously stayed here before moving to Germany at New Years Eve. Both times, my rooms have been gorgeously designed and the bathroom’s are so inviting that you want to spend hours in there (I don’t usually take long to get ready). Now, the beds let me tell you about those! When, I have been running around like mad in the day I like nothing more than jumping into bed and at the Canal House they must be the most comfy beds ….. guaranteed a great nights sleep.

If your coming to visit Amsterdam or looking to have a domestic free weekend in the city then I can highly recommend the Canal House, excellent service where the staff can’t do enough for you. They leave an essential guide to whats on in the city as well as other reading material that its possible you never have to leave.

Sunny day in London

Hey Guys, As I hit the publish button I am running late to Heathrow and having to leave London again for a few days stop over in Amsterdam. I couldn’t have asked for better weather for my return from my California trip to London. Since the weather was good I made sure that my weekend was going to be packed. Here is a post to show you what I wore for my day out on Saturday to Dover Street Market which you can read about here. After being in doors at LDSM, I headed to Hyde Park and the Serpentine gallery for some much needed Pimms’O’Clock action and a delicious pizza sitting by the lake and basking in the evening sun. I loved the park but, I must say Hayfever has been killing me along with the jet lag, but I suffered through in the park to get as much green open space before I head back to the desert.

I wore my new Topshop backpack out this weekend, what do you think? I am not a big backpack fan but I loved the colour of this one and needed something bigger than my usual clutches for my notebook and camera (blogging essentials). I also have finally got the chance to wear my new favourite Sandro leopard print top that I bought on a recent shopping spree at De Bijenkorf over my birthday weekend in Amsterdam. I loved that the leopard print is in perfect pastel colours for summer.

What I wore: Top: Sandro, Necklace: Topshop, Jeans: American Apparel, Bag: Topshop, Shoes, Zara, Sunglasses: Rayban’s¬†

Couldn’t have had a better Saturday.

Do you like to spend your sunny days in the park?

Dover Street Market

Hey All, I wanted to share a post on one of my favourite places in London; Dover Street Market. It is the place to go to look at the latest collections in a interior design heaven in the centre of London. Designed by  creative mastermind Rei Kawakubo of Comme Des Garcon, so expect nothing less than minimalism that meets extravagant design. Kawakubo wanted to create a market where designers from various fields could be showcased. This ethos is what I love most about Dover Street Market; beautiful jewellery mixed with best of international designer wear and minimalist furniture and quaint interior items.

Make sure you take at least as long as you can to really enjoy browsing LDSM with four floors of beautiful creations there is no need to rush here, and if you get hungry or thirsty get refreshed in the cafe on the 4th floor. Each floor has its own unique design which makes it feel like you have gone into a totally different store. Of course, throughout DSM expect to find lots of designs from Comme Des Garcon, I loved all the shirts but, I am currently trying not to buy any more shirts as the shirt department of my wardrobe is busting.

On 3rd floor I loved the new Saint Laurent  concession, the showcase for the collection was a mirrored display unit which made every item look 3D and of course beautiful. Lanvin Men made me want to be one of those girls who looks good in Menswear . My other big love on 3F was Givenchy for men and Women and I wanted to buy everything from Christopher Kane and Peter Pilotto.

My other favourite part of the store was the Azzedine Alaia section of the store, as I think I have mentioned on the blog before I am not a big shoe shopper (they never fit my feet) however, the shoes by Alaia made my mouth water! The chairs (picture above) were so inviting to sit down and spend an hour just watching all the stylish customers go by and drool over the Azzedine Alaia beautiful clothes.

All in all, this is a must-see place in London not only to shop for beautiful designs but also to be inspired by your fellow shoppers and the design of the store.

Have you been to Dover Street Market? What did you love about it?

Monday Mood #3 Hollywood

Hey Everyone, Well here we are again on a Monday… once I m back in Dubai that has little importance since the working week starts on a Sunday! However, I thought today would be all about inspiration and energy after we had a wonderful weekend here in London (blog posts coming soon). I m ready to hit the week running, I m only here in London two more days then back to Amsterdam before heading on to Dubai.

“Everybody comes to Hollywood and wants to make it in this neighbourhood” sang Madonna. Well, that energy is what I feel whenever I m in Hollywood. It’s a mix of those just starting out with all their hopes and dreams and those who have ‘made it’ now living it up in the Hollywood hills in their beautiful homes. When I’m in Hollywood I feel that everything I want to achieve is possible and within your reach! I am sure that like me, many of you have dreams that are far more achievable that being a famous movie star but, sometimes we doubt ourselves and our plans. If you feel like that I highly recommend spending an afternoon in Hollywood to kick those self-doubting voices in your head.

Aside from the energy in Hollywood it is of course quite the tourist trap but if you haven’t been to the Walk of Fame then head to Hollywood Blvd for everything your tourist heart desires. See your idol’s star, shop for crap in the souvenir shops, get harassed by aspiring actors wanting to show you their best impression of Marilyn or Batman! Soak up this mad atmosphere for as long as you can and then head to the hills for tranquil Hollywood.

My absolute favourite place in Hollywood is the Griffith Observatory in the Griffith National Park. Enjoy the drive up  looking at all the wonderful houses. as you know from my previous post I love looking at houses. Once you reach the park if your one of those athletic people then you could walk through the park to reach the observatory or if your lazy like me then drive most of the way and walk a little bit. If you walk a little you can look out onto the hills and the famous Hollywood sign. I think the best time to head to the observatory is around 4pm so you can take your time learning all about our universe inside the observatory.

Walking around the outside of Griffith Observatory you can see why many movie scenes have been shot here, wonderful landscaping, fantastic architecture and an atmosphere that seems electric (maybe that’s just me). Lookout from the viewing points to see the best views of LA, see just how big this city really is. Of course, if you head up evening time ¬†you can then perch yourself on a ledge somewhere and watch the sunset behind the Hollywood sign and over the hills. I think its one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen and we have some spectacular ones in the desert.

So, want to get energised, inspired and leave with a quiet mind ready for your next challenge then Hollywood is the place to be. If you’re an aspiring movie star then come here and get ready to fight with all the other hopefuls.

Outfit: T-shirt: Sandro, Trousers: HM Nederland, Sandals: Istanbul Bazaar, Bag: Marc By Marc Jacobs, Sunglasses: Vintage

Where is your place to get energised?
